Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard is open to the public every weekend for tours and tastings of select wines from our extensive wine list. We typically offer flights of five wines for $10 and you keep the tasting glass. These flights sometimes include tank samples from wine we have in the works, soon to be bottled. The facility is available for private parties, special events and weddings.
Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyards is located in the rolling hills of southern Grimes County, Texas, about 60 miles N.W. of downtown Houston. Our name was inspired by Groce's Retreat, which was located about 2.5 miles from our location. The Texas Declaration of Independence was authored at Groce's Retreat and later ratified at Washington-On-The-Brazos on March 02, 1836. Between March 18 and March 21, 1836, Groce’s Retreat served as the capital of the Republic of Texas.

Our mission at Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard is to create elegant wines, in a relaxed country setting, inspired by the pioneers who founded Texas.
