Retreat Hill Winery Remembers Carl Droemer
After a brief battle with cancer, Carl Droemer departed this earth and went to be with the Lord and his late wife Mary Beth on Christmas morning, 2009. Carl was laid to rest in Giddings, Texas on the morning of December 30, 2009.
Retreat Hill Winery is in business today because Carl, perhaps knowing that his time on earth would end soon, sold his winery equipment and wine inventory to me. I will always be grateful to Carl, a man who could still give his word and make a deal on a handshake. That's the way he handled our deal. We created a special label in honor of Carl before he left this earth. It will appear on a limited number of cases of Lone Star Native we plan to produce in the very near future. The label has been approved and we have included it for you to enjoy. We will let you know when we bottle this limited edition wine.
