The Texas Department of Agricultural has designated October as, “Texas Wine Month.” To celebrate, each of the wineries along the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail will offer something unique to wine trail ticket holders. In addition, the Grand Opening celebration at Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard will be on October 3 and 4, 2009 and on October 10 and 11, 2009, in conjunction with the trail. On consecutive Saturdays, the winery will remain open until 9:00 p.m., and feature live entertainment starting at 6:00 p.m. We will have Texas barbecue plates with brisket, sausage and ribs for the first 150 people, starting at 5:30 p.m. You can also purchase wine by the glass or bottle. The price of the barbecue and music is $10.00 per person, plus tax, at the door, until we run out of food. When we run out of food, the cover charge to see the band will be $5.00. If you pre-purchase your wine trail ticket, you get food and entertainment on October 3 or 10th included in the ticket price. To get the celebration started, Messina Hof Winery & Resort will host a wine dinner at The Vintage House Restaurant on October 2nd, 2009. This kick-off dinner will feature food and wine pairings from the wineries along the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail.
